CentOS Connect 2026: Inside the RHEL 11 Planning Room

Friday, January 30, 2026 | Brussels, Belgium

Speakers: Brian Stinson & Scott McCarty

At CentOS Connect 2026, Brian Stinson and I presented “Inside the RHEL 11 Planning Room: How Fedora and Stream Shape the Next Enterprise OS.”

Abstract

Red Hat is unveiling an early “60% plan” for RHEL 11, currently in development. This presentation explores a major shift toward the Constructible OS concept, created through collaboration between RHEL 11 engineers and the Fedora/CentOS communities.

As computing demands evolve—particularly for AI, Edge, and specialized hardware like ARM v9 and RISC-V—RHEL is transforming from a static distribution into a dynamic, modular platform. The session covers how the RHEL Business Unit leverages Fedora ELN and CentOS Stream as primary development engines and discusses the FRCL initiative bridging community and internal engineering requirements.
